 b: The house detective sized her up sarcastically with piggy eyes in his gross jowled face.

2)a: The obese body shook in an appreciative chuckle.

 b: He chuckled appreciatively with his obese body shaking.

3)a:The Duchess of Croydon-three centuries and a half of bred arrogance behind her-did not yield easily.

 b: Born in a noble family with a history of 350 years, Duchess of Croydon supported by inherent arrogance didn’t yield easily.

4)a:In no area of American life is personal service so precious as in medical care.

  b:In all areas of American life, personal service in medical care is the most precious one.

5)a: He is never put out by unexpected questions.

 b: Sudden questions won’t annoy him.

6)a: He is itching to have a go at it.

 B: He can’t wait having a shot.

7):I read a sentence, but I can’t understand it.

  “For the mighty army of consumers, the ultimate applications of computer revolution are still around the bend of a silicon circuit.”

  What dose the underlined part mean?

8):I read a sentence. 

  “Continental Europeans are addressing this despair in a variety of ways, some of them are not appetizing.”

  I think the underlined part is wrong and it should be “some of which are appetizing”. Am I correct?
