Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu has condemned the passed resolution against Jewish settlements on the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem at the United Nations Security Council. He claimed it as a shameful act from the UN and as a result he wanted to halt Israeli funds to five UN institutions. As we know that this resolution began in 1979 to condemn Israeli settlement activities as a breach of international law and was always rescinded by the US veto power. However, things might be different this time as US decided to abstain from voting the resolution. PM Netanyahu assumed that Obama's administration is the actor behind this incident, something that Washington has denied. He feared of any policies coming out from final weeks' of Obama administration, which could danger the future of Israel.

As a retaliatory step, during Christmas festive period, He summoned 10 ambassadors of those who were in favour of the motion and have embassies in Israel, including US ambassador. In separate ocassion, President elect Donald Trump has tweeted in his account stating the vote was a big loss for Israel people and he promised things will be different once he takes the office.
