Shogun was a commander-in-chief. It was a official title given by the emperor to the administrative head of the county. Bakufu was the government under the shogun. It had the absolute power of administration and ruled over the lords of provinces. Daimyo was a lord of province. In the Edo period, Japan was devided into the province. Each was governed directly by a daimyo. However, the absolute power of administration in the country was held by shogun and his government. Samurai were serving under the daimyo. They were warriors (or soldiers) specializing in the martial arts.
