I am trying to write a summary. Plz help improve my writing. Thank you.

     A few decades ago, science and technology inclined us to glowingly positive visions of the future of humanity. But as we have gained a deeper appreciation of threats facing us, we start to doubt the perspective we had before.In fact, such gloominess is misplaced, though. Much evidence shows that human beings can endure and develop, as long as other species, for at least tens of thousands of years. 

In the long run, the past holds the key to the future. Despite uncertainty and risks, drawing on experience from the past is crucial to ensure the future of mankind. So pessimistic view of our prospects is unnecessary.

And I read a sentence but I can’t understand it. 

“Listed as Least Concern as the species is very widely distributed, adaptable, currently increasing, and there are no major threats resulting in an overall population decline.” 

What do underlined portions mean? Why “listed as Least Concern as the species” can be a subject?
