Hi, I answered the next question to practice for TOEFL. I know is a large text, but I am really looking for help!! Thank you a lot in advance :)
Do you agree or disagree with the following statement?
Boys and girls should be educated in separate classrooms using different teaching techniques.
Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.
During the past nineteenth Century education was just meant to be for boys. They were educated and prepared to be successful business men. Just boy had access to better job opportunities because girls were meant to be housewive and mothers. In the past, most of the people thought women couldn't be as intelligent as men. They had a defficient reasoning and they were emotional beings so they couldn't develope correctly in business environment.
Most of these criteria were rejected through time, because women showed they could be judges, teachers, engineers just the same as men. Besides women started to fill universities and any kind of degree education.
In this education environment, women have shown they have same abilities and skills as men. In twenty Century, schools began to be mixed so girls could aspire to get prepared for the future. Since then no one has stopped women participation in every academic and business topic.
Because of this I consider boys and girls shouldn't be separated in school because they don't have exactly different process to learn. In fact, there is some research indicates that college students have different intelligences, that means no one learns in the same way that they partner. There might be some students who learn through visual ressources as videos or photos, while others get more knowledge by reading or taking some notes. But that doesn´t has anything to do with separation between girls and boys.
Otherwise, studying in a diverse environment, gives girls and boys the opportunities to develop social skills as empathy, tolerance, generosity and justice because they experiment different situation they have to work out.
Definitely our world needs more people who care about others, not just carrying for boys or for girls, but for everyone. We need to delete barriers between girls and boys, and start to build bridges among us.
