My hometown is Tokyo but I have lived other places for long time to study. So I was not sure how recent Tokyo was.
I backed to Tokyo last Obon season.
And i noticed that there are many tourists from overseas. The number of tourists was obviously increased comparing to when i had lived there.
I think this is a good thing for Tokyo and Japan, but I wonder Tokyo is comfortable for tourists from overseas.
Because, unfortunately, many Japanese cannot speak English even graduated students. My friend, he is from Thai, sometimes complains such kind of things.
I also have noticed there are many direction boards written in English in Japan, but these boards are not enough and smaller than which are written in japanese.
I told my brother this story, he said that he had found a woman had been in trouble to carry wheelchair in a train car because the station staff had not understood English. And he had regretted that he had not studied English seriously.
I know that there are many difficulty understanding English for Japanese (includes me) but I think we have to start studying usable English to be friendly for tourists.
