Essay Topic:"Some people prefer to live in a small town. Others prefer to live in a big city. Which place would you prefer to live in? Use specific reasons and details to support your answer."
TOWNS AND CITIES
If I were to choose between living in a small town or a big city, I would choose a big city, but I were in my forties or fifties, I would choose a small town.
A big city may be crowded and full of traffic but it's where a young person like me can find interesting activities and new people to meet. Additionally, most universities and institutes are likely to be established in big cities, so educational opportunities would also be greater in a big city compared to a small town.
One can find almost anything he wants to buy in a big city, but it's less likely so in a small town. There are many stores and malls one can wander about, so one can find new products, fashionable clothes or electronic gadgets more easily.
A small town has its advantages, too. A person who lives in a small town tends to spend less because he needs less. Even if he needed more than a person living in a big city, he would still spend less because the general spending for food, rents, etc. tends to cost less in a small town.
A small town is also calmer than a big city. That's why I wrote in the first paragraph that if I were fifty years old, I would choose to live in a small town. Crowded streets and a stuck traffic may not be a big issue for younger people, but it's definitely more stressful for elder people to keep up with the rush of a big city. They can't endure the stress of this commotion as easily as younger people can.
I'm thirty years old now, single and thinking about applying for a master program in a good university. It would be much better for me to live in a big city because I can start to do some new activities and hobbies, meet new people and continue my education.
