Some days ago, I found an article and now I'm going to tell you about it.

It's about the kidnapping of John Paul Getty III. J.P.Getty (the patriarch) was the richest person in 1957 according to Forbes. He racked up millions in oil business but he also had the reputation of being a very cheapskate person.

He had a son (J.P.Getty junior). JPGetty junior moved to Italy and married and had a son and J.P.Getty III. On July 10 1973 when he was 14 years old J.Paul Getty III was kidnapped. Two days later her mother received a ransom note asking for 17 million dollars. They didn't have the money.

His grandpa J.Paul Getty, refused to pay the money. He said that he had other 14 grandchildren, so if he paid a penny, he would have 14 kidnapped grandchildren.

After months, Paul's kidnappers cut off his ear and sent it with a lock of his hair to a newspaper.

Finally, the patriarch accepted to pay part of the money - only 3 millions dollars. J.P.Getty Junior paid the rest of the money by a loan from his father (grandpa's kid) to be repaid with 4% interest.

In December of that year, Getty III was released. He got married and had two children. He struggled with addiction. In 1981 he had a narcotics-induced stroke and he was left paralyzed. He required care for the rest of his life. He died at the age of  54 in 2011.
