I am not a musician, I have to say, but I always habe loved music. Perhaps it comes from my childhood, when I studied in a elementary school where I learned to read music and to play some instrumemts like flaute or melodica. Despite I only have memories of what once I learned, I still feel passionate about music and some years ago, I discovered an instrument that took my breath away with its sound. It is called Handpan. First of all, its shape is fascinating, it is like a metal disk with a shape of an ovni (hahaha), and the note rages go around the plate...It has deep and accute sounds, but the player has to do his/her magic to make it sound in a beutiful way. If you look at it for the first time, it seems to be easy to play but when you start listening to the teachers guidance on how to play the instrument properly, things seem to be more complicated. I have never played one, but I enjoy pretty much listening its sound on players accounts on youtube or instagram. My first approach was with Sam Maher, he was playing a song called New York on the subway and his way of playing and the acoustic caught me...and since then, I have been chasing more songs from him or other players I have discovered in the road, such as Hang Massive, Dan Mulqueen and recently I discovered Adrian Portia and Alexandre Lora. To me the handpand sound help me to connect with my feelings whem I meditate (from time to time), but also I listening to it when I am stressed and distract me for a moment. If you have heard about this instrument or do you have any recommendation of players let me know. I hope you can also help me to correct my mistakes. Have a good weekend everyone!
