Introduction
The purpose of this report is to summarise how I have developed my job as an entertainer in a hotel during this year, what kind of difficulties I have had to confront and, last but not least, to make a recommendation in order to improve the subsequent experience programmes.
My duty as entertainer
In the first instance, I started to work with elderly people, performing relaxing activities as board games, card games or bingos. These activities have nothing to do with what is programmed for the summer season, when the workdays become harder and exhausting due to the high demand of room reservations by younger people and the huge hotel’s capacity. Thus, during the summer I have worked as a sport entertainer, developing activities as aqua-aerobics, water-basketball, archery and similar sports and games in order to entertain the guests from all world places and ages.
The problems with the programme
The result of all this kind of activities which require physical effort is that every worker who is part of the staff in this department ends completely exhausted once the summer season has finished. In addition, is likely to happen that someone could be injured during the working season and there is not a substitute hired to develop the work remaining.
Recommendations for future programmes
As a first measure, I would highly recommend a more flexible timetable which provides the staff more time for relaxing and rest during the summer season. And also for future programmes allocate employees in companies where they count with an insurance and a substitute employee for replace them in case they get injured.
