I work five days a week and have weekends off. At the moment, because of the COVID-19 pandemic, I work from home twice a week and go to the office three times a week. It's been two weeks now since the central government declared a state of emergency. I hoped for complete remote work, because of a lack of infrastructure, ex. short supply of laptop PCs and not enough capacity of mobile secure network connection, I need to call in at the office three times a week. Even when I work from home, an individual's access to the company's secure network is limited to one hour only. That makes it a bit difficult for me to do my regular work as I do at the office. Next week, the Golden Week holidays will begin on Wednesday and I am going to have an 8-day holiday, but I will stay at home following the government's instruction. I am now contemplating what to do during the holiday. I first need to clean up my room, re-organize things and probably get rid of things I no longer need (we call it danshari 断捨離 in Japanese. Do you have an English expression for this?) I will watch some films online and do a lot of cooking but that's what I do for weekend, and this holiday is going to be like a very long weekend. To do something new to avoid boredom, I hope to meet language exchange partners here.
