I agree with the statement, in fact, in my opinion, many people today are worried about how they can appear on the internet, and how they are going to be rated by their followers and friends on Instagram or any other social media they are on it. So I would like to describe in this text some of the reasons why I believe this is happening nowadays.
The first reason that I want to point out is if they think that the number of likes on social media is going up just buy new clothes, so why will they hesitate to go to buy them? Their beliefs make them buy more and more clothes to achieve that goal. Living for likes or comments, trying to feed the algorithm in a way that it will make you a trend is a trend these days.
The second reason to point out is about the stores and the brands that know what young people like and how to do and keep it, for that the advertisement is so appealing and constant. Those companies use the fact that many people today care a lot to improve their appearance so every brand makes social media their first strategy to gather more clients and finally more sales.
The reason people wear clothes today is totally different from the past, people in that time wore clothes just for protection, against animals, insects, weather, etc. But over the years these things turned into something that makes you stand compared to your friends, it shows your personality and many people today are so worried about how other people can see them. As the clothes became more accessible, I mean, it's easy to go to a shopping mall and buy a lot of them and take them to your home on the same day instead ask someone to create new cloth or even yourself to create one.
In summary, due to social media and the highest appeal of being unique, it makes people spend too much money on clothing, it become a necessity for them nowadays, as they like to keep their way of living in the function of the image that they created on the internet and want to have it outside it.
