When I read the phrase “assisted dying”, what came to mind was euthanasia. In terms of euthanasia, I agree with it though it depends on a situation. There are two reasons why I agree.
First, it is about patients. For example, patients suffering from severe disease such as cancer feel so painful at a late stage. Furthermore, the patients can rarely recover from the sickness. In this case, assisted dying is one of the options if the patient wants. It is in order to release the person from pain.
Second, it is a viewpoint of a family member. For instance, a family has the person being brain-deadness in a hospital for a long time. The family needs much money for the hospital to take care of the person for a long time. If the family is not wealthy, it is hard to find money to spend for it. With economical reason, under family’s consent, if the family makes the decision to do, it will be approval.
Though we must not lightly control the one’s death and life, the assisted dying is one of choices for these people under the proper law.
