As one of summer holiday assignment, especially in primary school, it is an essay for impression of reading a book. I disliked this homework when I was a student. (I do not like it even now, though.) The reason is that I did not know the way of writing and it was ended up just to be written the summary of the story of the book. In other word, I did not know how to compose an essay in order for those who might not read the book I read to understand my impression of it. I would have liked not only to just be given the assignment but also to be taught in classroom some tips how to write an essay such as a format and procedure, before it.

読書感想文

特に小学校の夏休みの宿題の一つに、読書感想文がある。私は小学生の頃、この宿題が嫌いでした。（今も好きではないが。）なぜなら、どうやって書いていいのか、その書き方がわからず、結局、本のあらすじを書いただけになってしまうからだ。つまり私が読んだ本を読んだことがないであろう相手に、感想を作文する術がわからなかったのだ。単に読書感想文を宿題として課すのではなく、先に感想文の形式や手順のような書き方のコツを授業で学ばせてもらいたかった。
