Today evening, I bought a big cheesesteak sandwitch from Hoagie Haven and it costed me 8 dollars. The footlong sandwitch is larger and more delicious than that of Subway, so I get the reason why the nearby Subway has so few customers. Seemingly most of the people prefer the sandwich of Hoagie Haven.
I am also curious about the meaning of the resturant name. Hence I look up "hoagie" in the online dictionary. It tell me that it is one kind of large sandwich made of a long, narrow bread roll, and this word is often used in America. However, I'm still very interest in the source of this word. After much searching in Google, in the end I find it in wikipedia: In 1953, some Italian working at Hog Island shipyard, in Philadephia introduced the sandwitch. This became known as the "Hog Island" sandwitch; shortened to "hoggies", then the "hoagie".
