The issue of homeschooling is very controversial, there are both: pro and cons. On the one hand the obvious disadvantage of homesсhooling is a lack of socialization: communication with other students is of course one of the most important thing in the school. If a child didn’t have any friends in school it would be difficult for him to live and work in future. Making relationship with others is also a skill and children should learn how to do it. On the other hand supporters of homeschooling argue that this education model is less stressful and that it is suitable for introverts. Studying at home children don’t suffer from peer pressure: at school they usually have to perform in front of others, they worry because of it and so on. The classmates could be unfriendly, they could laugh at you and the atmosphere could be very unpleasant. But at home you perform only in front of your teacher and you usually don’t worry at all. However, again, this education form doesn’t prepare you for real life.
Nevertheless many students today choose the homeschooling. They believe that it is very convenient: they can decide for themselves when they want to study, so their timetable is very flexible. Also they can choose the place: actually they can study even in the park if their teacher has no objections.
I personally think that homeschooling is a good choice for developmentally delayed students. They need a special support from the teacher and they usually learn slowly than others, therefore they need to study in their own pace. Though speaking about usual students I think that homeschooling is not a best decision. Studying at home children usually get lower education: partly because they have only 1-3 teachers and partly because of a lack of motivation: «Home students» doesn’t have to compete with others.
