Q: Discipline is an ever-increasing problem in modern schools. Some people think that discipline should be the responsibility of teachers, while others think that this is the role of parents.

Discuss both sides and give your opinion.

Disciplinary problem is one of the issues people face in educating children. A sizeable majority of thinkers believe that teachers should be responsible for disciplinary issues, however, their opponents support the notion of parents being liable and producing some fruitful results in this regard. I believe, for some reasons, both of them must play their key roles.

Intellectuals, in favour of teachers bearing this responsibility, perceive two points essential. Firstly they believe teachers are highly trained –through CELTA, DELTA and so on –before they are allowed to conduct classes, therefore, they are deemed to be the best trainers of discipline. Additionally, taking care of the misconducts of pupils is the part of teachers’ training process as not only teaching children how to construct buildings, fix or invent new machines, diagnose diseases and treat people and so forth is their job to do but teaching children the moral values is also an integral part of their duty. Such as many schools around the globe conduct sessions of awareness for how people in desperate need can be helped and humanitarian work is practically taught by taking students to hospitals and affected areas.

Conversely, others state that due to the fact that children have an emotional attachment to their parents, they can effectively be trained at home. Which is (also) true because by birth the minor ones listen to their mother and father which is a good example of their emotional bonding. For instance, a boy joins army school and later arm forces if his mother is attached to arm forces. Furthermore, parents are able to encourage their offspring by offering them gifts and presents to make them do what they want. It can be seen that children produce very good results who are given a target of achieving a position in class against a technological device or anything else as an award.

Having discussed both these sides, I would argue that both parents and teachers should play their vital roles. Because time is the most important factor and children spend almost half of their time under the supervision of each of them.
