Dear Sir/Madam, I bought a plane ticket for my mother in order for her to travel from Buenos Aires, Argentina, to London, UK. Her flight was meant to depart at 11:00 h on the 19th of August, 2019, and to arrive in London at 04:00 h on the 20th of August. However, shortly before the departure time, we were informed that there would be a delay of about eight hours. Later on, her flight was cancelled and she was offered a place on flight X, departing at 22:10 h on the 19th of August, 2019. This flight also suffered a delay of approximately one hour prior to its departure. As a consequence of all of the above, my mother arrived in London at about 15:30 h on the 20th of August, more than eleven hours after the arrival time shown in the tickets that we had bought (04:00 h of the 20th of August). These changes to her flight were very inconvenient for us, since my mother does not habitually reside in Buenos Aires and, therefore, she was forced to find a suitable accommodation in that city while she was waiting for her flight to depart. In addition, we had to reschedule her trip from London to Norwich, which was her final destination. The company adduces that the flight cancellation was due to a technical fault. This is difficult to believe, since practically all of their flights were either delayed or cancelled on that date, all over the world. It seems more likely that the cancellation was due to either a financial or an organisational problem. Best regards, X.
