I am Zhang Yuhang, a student who is from China and have already completed my undergraduate study at Dalian Nationalities University. I first knew chemistry when I was in junior high school. At that time, I learned some basics about chemistry, such as reaction equation. It was my first time attending a lab as well. Even only a few times per week, I found that I enjoyed spending my time on doing experiments. Since then, I became interested in chemistry. With much of passion, I chose to major in chemical engineering since starting university. No doubt chemical engineering is difficult, especially physical chemistry. I had a lot of courses--from the basic parts, like math, physics, inorganic chemistry, etc. to more professional parts, like chemical engineering, chemical reaction engineering etc. Practically, I didn’t do all my courses perfectly. Also, I had courses in labs where there were some equipment and chemical materials. One reaction between substances was complicated and this process cost a lot of time, so sometimes I should stay in the lab half a day or even longer. But it wasn’t boring particularly when I saw phenomenons, like color changing, I felt proud of myself. There was also some experiment I could not see phenomenons directly, but indirectly by the notes I wrote through processes. Moreover, I had technic drawing course. In these classes, I learned basic knowledge of drafting. My university also offered us a chance to have a visit to a factory. There I saw the real process of producing. In conclusion, I think I have a good background in chemical engineering.
My previous professor is intelligent and knowledgeable. His research field is related to chemical process simulation, analysis, verification and modeling by professional software, like aspen plus. I did my thesis about Rectisol wash process simulation and analysis with his help. While I was doing my thesis, he taught me a little about how to use aspen plus. I have learned not only knowledge but attitude above chemical research from him. He had a great influence on me. Nevertheless, the main reason of why I want to continue my study chemical engineering is that I’m keen on it. I also think I can do well in the future. Thus, I want to apply for a master degree to get to know a far deeper field. I am attracted to your department by its brilliant faculty. He is working on a subject which I want to participate in. And his research field is similar to what I did in prior university. I want to keep on studying on it and become a chemical engineer in the future.
I am now studying Korean in language education center. But at the beginning of the coming fall semester, I will have been studied Korean for a year. Thus, I guess there will be no more problem of communication any longer. But I will still keep learning it by my own. I have already get used to the life here. So I hope I can studying on my major as soon as possible. Compare with local students, I still have shortages. I have been looked through the courses list of chemical engineering that undergraduate students must learn. Actually, I didn’t take few courses of them. I must study even harder than local students in order not to be left behind. If I succeed applying to this university, I will try my best to learn all valuable knowledge both in my major and other parts. It’s a big challenge for me to learn cultures about a country, but I will try to know Korea and Korean as kind of experience. Furthermore, I will manage to improve my spoken English. In a word, I hope to have a good time here.
China is a country with the largest population around the world, meanwhile, it means there is more potential there. And with a full support by the government, it has developed fairly fast these days. China will never stop moving on and will be better and better in the future. Thus, China needs majority excellent people in all kinds of field. As a Chinese, I love my country. I’m glad to see it become stronger and stronger. I’d like to devote myself to building my country. Therefore, after completing graduate school, I will go back China.I am Zhang Yuhang, a student who is from China and have already completed my undergraduate study at Dalian Nationalities University.
