With this fact in mind, it can be assumed that the political debates may get strongly biased in the favour of the private interests of these influential donors. […]

My English teacher underlined the word 'get', but I'm not sure why she did so. I especially welcome feedback on this. I'm also interested in knowing if this paragraph could have been written better and, if so, how.
