In the lecture, the speaker disagrees with the ideas of the passage because of the opposite outcomes of the experiment conducted by a company. First is the "free-ride" problem. That is to say, some of the team members wouldn't dedicate that much as those who do, but they receive the same achievement of the group. In other words, this is very unfair to those who put a lot of efforts on the task. Although a team can provide wider knowledge and skills, the passage is based on the presumption that every member will do their best. But the truth is that the reality is different from the theory. Second, team work doesn’t mean working efficiently. According to the speaker, a team needs many meeting and frequent discussions to make a decision, which takes a lot of time. A team may have more resources than an individual, but this also indicates that the group members may have many different ideas, and the speed of making a decision won't be as fast as the passage says. Third, by the time, one or two members of the team may become the most influential people of the group and lead the whole team. They decide the direction of the team. If they make a successful decision, it benefits the team and they will turn into the "shining people". However, once they fail, they would lead the whole team to failure.
