Television has had a significant influence on the culture of many societies. To what extent would you say that television has positively or negatively affected the cultural development of your society?
As we can see during the 21st it is undoubtedly that television has had a considerate impact and changed the world in which we live. However, actually it is a debatable topic whether change has been for the better or the worse. I strongly believe that television has had a largely positive influence on our society.
Primarily, one side of the arguments there are people who argue that television has a negative effect on our cultural development. Perhaps, the foremost argument is on television are many series and soap operas where people do not learn anything because they only want to entertain. On good example of this is people nowadays prefer to watch series about crime, drugs, warfare, and so on. Furthermore, another major issue with this is people watch so much television and they spare time on front of the television rather than using to do other activities. For instance, people no longer take park in more traditional forms of cultural development such as going to the theater or the museum. So, these activities are becoming less popular because people are staying at home to watch the television.
On the other hand, it is also possibly to make the opposing case, it can be said that there are other ways in which cultural development has been assisted by television. One argument is that television has allowed the whole of society access to cultural entertainment. For example, in the last century only a small proportion of people could go to the theater. However, it is now possible for everyone to enjoy this activity on television. A Second positive effect is that on television we can learn more about other cultures and customs of different societies because there are many interesting documentaries about other countries.
In short, from my point of view, I think that television has been a positive influence. But it is very important to learn that we must not watch it too much and if we watch the right program.
