Help me understand if there is a difference of meaning between the two translations.THANK YOU!
She had the impression it was morning, but instead a glance at her alarm clock made her shiver and get out of bed. It was ten till eight pm – Sergio was about to arrive for dinner and she hadn’t set the table yet. “Massimo!” she said to her husband as she was still a bit confused and sleepy. He –thank God – was cooking with great dedication
“I’m talking to you!” he burst out with a cold voice which made her stiffen. “ Sergio is arriving now and you, who invited him, haven't done anything at all!” Massimo was offended and furious, as though he thought she had done it on purpose and was losing interest in him. She knew that she had to say sorry to him and say something decisive. But_ coming into her mind were just phrases which maybe would have complicated things to such an extent that their misunderstanding would have become beyond repair.
Roberta couldn’t help but ask herself about the nature of her relationship with Massimo. She understood that they couldn’t go on in such a was, surviving between bickering and frequents quarrels. Even though there weren’t any very serious problems between them the constant state of pressure was ruining them in the long-run (= would ruin them in the long run).

She had the impression that it was morning but a glance at the alarm clock sent a chill down her spine and made her spring/jump down the bed immediately – it was 7.50 pm – By now Sergio was on his way to arrive for dinner and she hadn’t prepared anything. “Massimo!” she called in a rather confused and sleepy manner to her husband that (thank God) was busy/madly cooking away. “How is it going?”.
“I’m furious at you!” he snapped in a cold voice which made her stiffen. “Sergio will be there at any moment and you, who were the one who invited him, haven’t made a damn thing!”. Massimo was hurt and angry as if he beltered that had done on purpose without any regard for him. She knew that she should apologize – say something to bring the tension to an end but all that came to (her) mind were phrases that would probably complicate things (matters) to the point of making this misunderstanding into something irreparable.
Roberta couldn’t help asking herself as to the real mature of her relationship with Massimo. In fact, she understood clearly that they couldn’t continue for long like this, bickering and arguing. Not that there were any really serious problem; it was just that this state of continual tension would in the long run wear them both out.
