Waffles have their root on "obelios", ancient greek bread and later they were spread out around the world by Christian missionaries.

Some of them are fluffy soft like sponge cakes, some are moist and sticky like bread,  and there are also crispy and chunky ones like biscuits.

原型は古代ギリシャの「オベリオス（パンの総称）」で、宣教師によってヨーロッパ各地に伝わっていった。温かいうちにジャムやホイップクリーム、メープルシロップなどをつけたり、フルーツを添えて食べる。

Waffles are normally served hot, with whipped cream, maple syrup,  jam or sometimes with a piece of fruit on.

スポンジケーキのようにふわふわしたものから、パンのようにもちもちしたもの、ビスケットのようにカリッとしたものまで様々あり、温かいうちにジャムやホイップクリーム、メープルシロップなどをつけたり、フルーツを添えて食べる。

We have waffles between meals but sometimes as a breakfast.

間食として食べるほか、朝食として供される場合もある。
