I am an international student in biodiversity, ecology and evolution in Rennes, France. I am in my first master degree IMABEE - put intended - and my second year will take place in a foreign country between Germany, the Netherland and Denmark.
We learn about biological communities, compartmental and evolutionary ecology, population’s dynamic, spatial analyses and statistic tools. This is way more complicated that is seems and people don’t really think about a huge part of our program: modeling.
Modeling is kind of the heart of our studies; we have to be able to put numbers and graphs off of what we are studying and interpret them
English is not to be underestimated as well. One of our lessons is entirely in English, next year, all of our lessons will be and all the scientific publications are in that language. As an international student, it will not only be the lessons and publications, English will be my way of living.
Because I intend to go in Denmark and unfortunately, I am not quite sure I can learn Danish in one summer.
