浴衣は湯上がりや夏季に着る木綿の着物で、裏地はありません。振袖など礼装の着物に対し、浴衣は気どりのないふだん着です。素肌の上に着ることもでき、ふつうは足袋もはかず、素足で下駄をはきます。ことに暑い夏の夕方、ひと風呂浴びた後に着る浴衣の着心地は格別で、見た目にもさわやかで涼しげに感じられます。 夏祭りや花火大会、盆踊りなどでは浴衣姿の人も多く見られ、夏の風物詩の1つになっています。また、多くの旅館やホテルには浴衣が用意されており、ねまき代わりに着ることもできます。
Yukata is wear made from cotton for summer or after taking a bath, and there is no lining. Yukata is a casual wear against furisode that is full-dress. it enables to put skin on directly, and moreover they put on geta (Japanese clogs) without tabi (Japanese socks). Especially, a hot summer evening, it's very confortable to put on yukata after taking a bath, and it gets the impression that people are given coolness. Japanese people wear yukata in summer festival, firework display and the Bon dancing, which is one of the seasonal tradition. Many inns and hotels are provided yukata, which can be weared as pajama.
