Trying to write a few words about the Brazilian politics spectrum

Body

Politics is a controversial subject to talk about in my country. We have many parties but they are divided into two main political ideologies: In minor numbers of parties but not in voters we have the right-wing, well-known as the conservatives and economic liberals, those who believe in the free market and free speech, and the left wing, in the great number of voters too. Most of them are progressist, who adopts the woke scene, but some of them are more socialists and even some old-school communists. However we also have the center ones in minor numbers related to militants, but in good numbers, if you consider the total amount of politics in our parliament.

Is it a Greengrocer?

Body

A few days ago, my cousin started a business, and in the following days, things here, in our house, got pretty crazy. The type of business that my cousin started is a Produce store. I don't know, exactly, what it is called in English, perhaps a Greengrocer.

The important thing is everyone in the family is very committed to his business, the youngest member to hit the age of majority and have already started a business. Most of the younger ones in my family choose a University career.

In order to help him, we spend part of the time with him in his store, guiding him and We are also learning a lot from this business. An old man neighbor of ours has this same type of business and goes with his brother to get fruits and vegetables at the distributor very early in the morning and now my cousin and my uncle go on the same kombi as them to get produce for both shops.

Sometimes things get a little heated in the family, especially with my other cousin, but I don't want to be nosy so figure it out themselves haha. Actually, I also give my advice sometimes and I want him to do the things that he is not planning, however, it's better to let sleeping dogs lie, too much advice doesn't always help.

Even though of those things his shop is going well, it has ups and downs, but it is already overcoming. I'm anxious to see how the next few days will play out.

Compulsory or not

Body

In my country, all major subjects, such as Mathematics, Portuguese, Sciences, and Social Studies, are compulsory in every school before college, whether private or not. But, in private schools, we usually have more subjects compulsories such as, for example, Music, Acting and Computation.
If I have to choose one or more subjects to be compulsory in every school even public ones, I'd choose Music and Computation, for sure. I believe these two subjects are very important to make the students understand the world around them once it became even more technological and  make them  realized how a song can be so interesting and enjoyable and at the same time so complex and mathematical.
However, I believe that everyone can choose for themselves because only you can tell what is good for you and for your future based on your preferences and abilities.

Self-Introduction & Reasons for Learning a Language (level: C1/advanced; American English)

Body

***I'm well-aware I'm posting my profile description into a wrong section of this website haha, but this is a piece of writing I just complied, so I would love to hear your feedback on grammar, punctuation, spelling, word choice and so on***

Hi everyone, I'm Alex, and I'm a psychologist and social science researcher by training.

My main area of interest is psychology (in a very broad sense; encompassing both academic and non-academic).
So, I can discuss topics like:
- consciousness
- mind-body connection
- esotericism
- alternative medicines and psychotherapeutic approaches
- mind alteration / altered states of consciousness
- practices focusing on the body, such as yoga or breathwork
- social sciences (sociology, political science)
- different countries & cultures

If you're interested in some of these or similar/related topics - that's great, we will probably have an easy time finding things to discuss.
However, I'm quite open and curious, so even if you're coming from a completely different background or perspective - I would love to hear and learn from you :)
So, please don't hesitate to contact me.

With regards to the language itself - I'm reasonably fluent in English, my current level is probably smth like "advanced" (C1), but in my estimation it is nowhere near proficient.
English has been a part of my life for years, as I consume content in English, travelled throughout Europe and parts of Asia, lived and studied in Europe.
However, I never underwent a proper formal training in English, so I'm still lacking some grammar knowledge, for example. Moreover, I believe there is a certain deficit which comes from the fact that I've never even been to an English-speaking country, let alone lived there.
I mean, I'm familiar with how people speak on YouTube or podcasts, but not so much with how they speak on a day-to-day basis at work or at a home party somewhere in Seattle.

Ultimately, my goal is to reach a near-native level of proficiency, so that I can express myself clearly and precisely both in speaking and writing. And so that the amount of mistakes I make is comparable to that of an educated native speaker.
With that in mind I'm interested to improve all aspects of my language - grammar, pronunciation, vocabulary, use of slang/idioms, and so on.
As well as in general - I just want to connect more with the people and the culture of English-speaking countries, in particular the US and Canada, as I orient myself toward American English, but also from UK/Ireland/Aus/NZ.

Anyway, I hope this clarifies a bit who I am and what I might be interested in with regards to language exchange :)
Thanks and looking forward to hearing from you

「至誠感通」"When your heart is sincere, there will be having inspiration"

A few days ago, I was watching the movie "Joy". There’s a scene where Jennifer Lawrence is suddenly speechless standing in front of the screen; but she’s sincere overcomes her fears and gets a lot of inspiration in promotion.

「應無所住生其心」「Moor your mind nowhere」

Last month, I wanted to practice writing 50 pages. No matter what it can be completed or not, I am always satisfying and practicing during writing.

Analysis of the war in Ukraine

Body

The war between Russia and Ukraine started in February 2022 with the occupation of the Ukraine territory by the Russian troops. In order to understand the reasons of the conflict, we have to go back in 2014, when, following the pro Russian protest, Ukraine’s Crimea was annexed to Russia with a status referendum. After this event, the pro-Russian Donbas region, in the east of Ukraine, established the Donetsk People's Republic and the Luhansk People's Republic, leading to the war in Donbass, in which Russian troops also participated. Starting from 2014, there are always been tensions between Russia and Ukraine. At the beginning of 2022, Russian president Putin started the mobilitation of the Russian troops on the border of Ukraine, announcing a "special military operation" in Ukraine. This officially got the war started. The Russian offensive hit the main cities in Ukraine, like Kiev and Mariupol, causing the destruction of these cities and the flight of many Ukranians to other European counties.

In the meantime, the leaders of Western European country responded by levying a raft of sanctions against Russia but this doesn’t seem to stop the Russian attacks on Ukraine. In fact, the latest news say that Russia is probably the responsible of two missiles that have hit a farm in Poland, near the border with Ukraine, causing the death of two people. In conclusion, it seems that the end of the conflict is still far away.
