Thank you for posts. What you said about the Bible being a compilation of texts chosen with a Roman agenda is simply not true. The apocryphal books were not included because (1) nearly all of them were written much later than the original gospels and (2) they were not overwhelmingly recognized as authentic by the members of the early church, as the canonical books were. Furthermore, I can preach the Gospel to you without even using the New Testament.

The verse of the Bible that you mentioned says that women must be covered when they pray or prophesy, not every day nor in every moment of the day. This is a clear and significant distinction between the Islamic and Christian traditions. In Christianity, this tradition is meant to reflect the relationship between Jesus and his church. The husband symbolizes Jesus and the wife symbolizes the church.

It’s a Wonderful life

The film It’s a Wonderful life was directed by Frank Capra. It stars James Stewart as George Bayley and Henry Travers as Clarence (an angel who wants to win two wings for himself). There are other actors like Donna Red, Georges Bayley’s wife, and Lionel Barrymore, the bad man Henry Potter.

I would like to talk about Gernika, a painting that was painted by Pablo Ruiz Picasso in 1937.

The artist painted this canvas to be exhibited in the Spanish Republican pavilion together with other masterpieces created by Joan Miró and Alexander Calder among other artists.

It’s important to say that in 1936 began the Civil war in Spain and, moreover, in Europe the Second War was about to start.

Letter of recommendation

I like the etymology not only  out of my curiosity, it hepls me to puzzle out the meaning of the words, to make sense of them and to memorize them, to get them by heart consciously, with deep understanding. The knowledge of languages let me read books and watch movies in original and to understand what the author whant to say instead of accepting translator's point of view. I Thomas Stearns Eliot's poetry and Mark Twain's autobiographical books.

I like phonetics. And I now that even the people who learn foreign language and often talk to native speakers can disregard their pronounciacion. People who learn languages can have a good vocabulary, and native speakers do understand them very well. But to my mind phonetics is important indeed. Without paying enough attention on phonetics we can confuse some resembling english words, we can make blunders, raw errors.
