Japanese Managers Tell Employees to Learn English

I do not agree with the order that all employees must use English as a common language in the company in Japan. If the companies trades with overseas company, and has foreigners of employees in their office, English is required for the business. But except for exemplified above, most Japanese workers are not necessary to use English in their jobs. Because their co-leagues are mostly Japanese people, Japanese language causes to less miscommunication than English that they are not used to.

How we call each other in Mandarin Chinese

Recently I chatted with a learning partner from the Mixxer and she asked how she should call me. I feel the ned to share with you all how we call each other in Chinese, between peers, colleagues and friends. (There are other cases when you call superiors or elderly people but we won't talk about that this time.)

A Danger of Driving

Now,  I'm commuting to a driving school to get driving license everyday. In there, we students are taught many time how risky driving  a car is. Along with the classes, we come to know a danger of driving and feel scared of handling and manupulating a car. However, when we go out of the school and actually drive a car on the street, we sometimes forget the risk for an accident. And, unfortunately, in such moment, unexpected accident often breaks out.

Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? The best way to travel is in a group led by a tour guide. Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer

I agree with the statement that the best way to travel is in a group led by a tour guide for two reasons: a tour guide knows the best places to go sightseeing and speaks the local language of the place.

Please help me understanding the intonation patterns in English

I've been watching movies and TV shows in English for some time. And recently I started listening to BBC, Fox News, NPR, ABC, etc.

I am okay with the intonation in spoken English in those movies, TV shows and news talks. I am curious about hte intonation in news reading. One question: would 2 news readers READ a sentence in a news report using the same intonation? If not, what causes the difference?

Thanks.
