One of the increments proposed by CLEO is related to the type of learning resource. IEEE-LOM defines 15 different resource types, namely, exercise, simulation, questionnaire, diagram, figure, graph, index, slide, table, narrative text, exam, experiment, problem statement, self assessment and lecture. The CLEO adds to them more than 29 types, among which, the types introduction, definition and example.
The IEEE-LOM standard for describing metadata may be incomplete in some contexts and, on the other hand, describing not widely used metadata. To solve the problem of its incompleteness, there are some extensions of the IEEE-LOM standard, such as the extension defined by Customized Learning Experience Online (CLEO) (Barrett et al., 2003). CLEO's contributions to IEEE-LOM are:
The SCORM standard targets portability by allowing various types of learning objects to communicate effectively with the various existing e-learning platforms. The standard enables the encapsulation and sequencing of LOs of various sizes, such as images, exercises or even a complete course, facilitating the reuse of this content among the various platforms compatible with this standard.
The IEEE-LOM standard serves as a basis for other standards, such as the OBAA metadata standard (VICCARI et al., 2010) and the SCORM standard (ADL, 2004). The OBAA standard extends the IEEE-LOM standard ensuring interoperability between hardware platforms in the Brazilian educational context. The SCORM (Sharable Content Objects Reference Model) standard provides interoperability between different learning management systems.
The IEEE-LOM standard (HODGINGS et al., 2002) is recognized worldwide for facilitating the creation and search of learning objects (LOs). This standard defines nine categories for the description of LOs in the XML language. These categories are presented in Table 1. Each category is composed of a set of fields relevant to the identification of a given LO. The values assumed by each of these fields are used in the retrieval / search of the desired resource.
In general, a learning object (LO) is a digital content that can be reused in various learning contexts. Each LO is composed of a content and its metadata, which follow some standard to guarantee reusability. These metadata are stored in LO repositories, making it easier to reuse educational content.
Cao exactly was a man of inferiority.
He didn’t have enough confidence on his appearance.
Even when he became the real controller of the country ,
He asked other people pretend him to interview the envoys from other country
And himself stood aside with a broadsword as a guard.
