The dog’s society in Payra power plant

Body

little black is timid, she doesn’t like to be bothered by conflicts, she runs away every time little flower bullying her, she leaves our dorm area for weeks or months, returns back occasionally for food.

She had 5 pups earlier this year, all of them died when lots of dogs in side our plant died one after another, no one knows what was that virus (could be covid-19) or bacteria leaded to the death of those free dogs.

About half a year ago little black sometimes hide food underneath the ground with her 5 fine pups and now she hides food alone, she is probably worried that she won’t be able to have enough food to survive, especially when she had babies to look after.

Big yellow, the king of the region around our dorm where Chinese people live was virile, taciturn with strong constitution and a white vertical line right in the middle of his face, pure golden fur, bobtail (could be of the fact that he had a fierce fought with and other male dog that he lost the big half of his tail), he stayed in power for serval years maybe thanks to his tail, during the fight other dogs won’t see what’s in his mind, since he doesn’t have the tail that could be tucked between the hind legs to show that he is afraid.

I thought big yellow was sweet-tempered when I just came here, no matter how people played with him, he never showed any anger.

Later on I learnt that he fought other dogs to their death. During the dog’s pandemic, people suspected big yellow was the cause of other dogs’ death.

The awkward, in Chinese we call him HanHan is a fat but nor sturdy old guy who has a disdainful look, whose gaze of eyes is always tilted, no matter what he is looking at. He often leaves our region for months and returns back with scars, wounds and a much thinner physique.

And this time many of us thought he probably died already, yet he is back with lots of wounds scatter on his body, although no one knows what happened to him exactly, the loss of his fur and skin is telling the melancholy of his failure and helplessness. This time he is so weak that he cannot respond to my calling of his name, like I was calling a complete stranger.

There was another dog who I don’t even know his name died during the pandemic; all together the four of them were so happy, playing around, galloping across the wild field, entertained themselves by holding one of a worker’s shoes and run like mad with the rest cashing after him.

Any time if there was a stranger, one of them barks, then all of them follow, they either drive the strangers away or corner them. So, we don’t have strangers in our region. About 2 months ago, during the estrum cycle, there was a fierce rivalry over intercourse rights. The ongoing howling noise of the fights often heard at nights. It was quiet again for about 2 months, and things has changed afterwards as we often have strange visitors and one of them even stayed overnight next to big yellow, she follows big yellow, sucks him up, massaging him from his head to his tail, she must be desperate in staying in our region as there were constructions in nearby region, they have no place to stay and even though big yellow has experienced heavy loss probably for the first time,  alothgh he has became weaker and very ugly with lots of scars on his body, but the hegemony is still in his hands, besides she is much smaller and weaker. I once witnessed the stranger massaged big yellow from his head to his bottom for a really long time; big yellow just lied on the ground still, like nothing has ever happened. The stranger stayed for about a month and now I haven’t seen her for quite a while.

Today little flower has delivered 5 pups, little back is also about to give birth to hers and she often stayed at the corridor of our canteen as little flower is busy with her children.

An essay "Many people believe that teenagers spend too much time on social media."

Body

In my view, it is true that teenagers spend a lot of time on social media but I can't agree it is too much. Because a definition "too much" is completely different for everyone. For example, instagraming or facebooking during a half of an hour is much for me, although my wife does it for about 2 hours everyday, and sometimes I wonder if it's enough for her. I see that kind of problem existes in the modern world. Nowadays even adults prefer to rest using their smartphones and plunging into the network.

Anyway it should be better to reduce the amount of time spending by young people on social media. To tackle this problem both sociologists and psychologists recommend to go out often with your friends, to replace the Internet by natural meetings and conversations. Also if it's possible the parrents might get their children to any sport-section or buy some equipments like a bike, a tennis rocket ect.

I believe that a good solution for this task first of all is creating some certain rules in a family such as eliminating smartphones during a meal, inspiration for speaking to each other, listening to your child. Not less important than previous one is to show teenagers the way of alternative rest. It can be some activities, trips, picnicks, playing table games or something else.

To sum up, it's enough to find out your own idea how to spend time out of social media. That decision will be the best for the whole family and particulaly for teenagers.

A new challenge.

Body

Since years ago, I’ve been struggling with my understanding and skills on English language. Now I’ve decided it’s time to take additional action. I had taken the BBC English course and (almost) finished it, I think it helped me a lot on my managing of the language, but I have some lacks in my oral and written expression, that I would like to solve, and the way I found (at least for the written part) is to write, and I’ll do this, sit at the computer a couple of days a week and start writing texts. I don’t know how long, and eighter the subjects I’ll touch, but it is important at least to write whatever pass though my mind, this way I hope I’ll gain mental agility and improve my expressiveness.

Today I’ll talk about why I want to develop my English.

There are several reasons why a person could want this: it could be for curiosity, to access a whole new world of information (many of the human knowledge is not available in Spanish, for instance), to travel and know new cultures or, I think the most usual reason, for work. And, to be honest, that last is my main motivation; I need to improve my English skills to get access to more and more promising work opportunities, and then to earn more money and be closer to be a rich person (or at least to get financial independence and an early retirement)

But that is a mid or long-term objective, is the long run aspiration. In the shorter term I need to pass an exam, to get access to a one of the most respected professional body in world, the Chartered Institute of Managing Accounting -CIMA-.

I’m part of a fast developing program, by one of the most important pharma group in UK, in which during three years I’m rotating through different departments of the company and, at the same time, I have to make studies in accounting to get the CIMA certification at the end of the program.

Time by time, I must perform exams to certificate my advances, they are multiple-choice based test, and are usually very easy to pass (if you have the proper preparation), they are in English, but I usually don’t have any issue understanding what I read. Nevertheless, one time a year I must present a written exam, and it’s there where I’ve been having some problems. That’s why I’m here tonight writing this, trying to get fluency by practice.

What do I expect? I’d like to be able to write wider texts, in less time and express better my ideas this way. And by three to six months, when I present again one of those written exams, don’t lose any mark or point due to a grammatical failure nor due to lack of expression.

Thanks for reading this and give suggestions. You’re helping a poor country economist to reach his dreams.

“Escape to the country-should you?

Body

With the arrival of the covid and the subsequent quarantine at home for more than just a few weeks, those who had huge houses and, especially, gardens, were the most envied and made many of us want to lead a country life, unaware of the drawbacks.

The lockdown period made people reflect on the advantages of living in the countryside, in a cosy cottage, far from people and where you can breathe a lot of fresh air if another unavoidable  stay-at-home period comes back. So much so, in fact, that, within my city,  country houses were sold like hot buns when we could actually move around as they were highly demanded.

However, I don’t think people who just want a break from the crazy city life, have really put some thought into the disadvantages of the “relaxing” life in the outskirts. Do they know that they could be changing the noise coming from a group of youngsters at midnight for a noisy rooster at five in the morning? That’s difficult to get used to! Also, you can go far from people but be prepared to be near all kinds of bugs: spiders, cockroaches, mosquitos, beetles...and even some rats or mice ready to steal your food. Does it still look nice?

I speak from my own experience when I say that living in the countryside is not all roses and clean air. It is also having just one neighbour but such a noisy one because he can now put  music as loud as he wants as there are no other neighbours to complain! Just you, wanting some peace and quiet and not getting it. And, once you have achieved some, you remember you can’t just lie down and relax as you must clean at least ten spider webs a week if you don’t want your house to look as if prepared for halloween.

So, the next time you think about moving away from the hustle and bustle, you must make sure to do a research on how noisy the neighbours are and  think if you are fully prepared to fight the bug killing and cleaning!

Bar graph

Body

The bar graph shows the percentage of activities that 5 to 14 years old boys and girls do in Australia, showing the difference between them. It can be seen in overall how whatching TV or videos accounted for the major activity which 100% of both genders participate.

It can be seen as well how the boys prefer 10% more skateboarding or rollerblading and bike riding, while the art and craft was prefered by girls in 15% more. Moreover, there is a big gap of 20% in electronic and computer games, where 80% of the boys represented the majority.

The activity that the children less choose is skateboarding or rollerboarding, which was prefered only by 30% of the girls and 40% of the boys; followed by art and craft that was practiced more by 55% of the girls, 15% more than boys.

In conclusion the leisure activities are noticeable devoted by boys almost in all activities, but girls only choose art and crafts.

Today I arrived home after work and my dog was waiting me behind the door, impatient, nevous. When I entered the kitchen, I realized he had not eaten or drunk  in my absence.  I was surprised that he did not want to drink until I got home, despite being thirsty.

Then, he  has been laying  next to me all afternoon.

My dog is one of the few who enjoyed the pandemic.  A year and a half in the company of his owners, two daily walks, homemade food ... and now he has to return to normality… to loneliness, to a hurried walk, to industrial feed.
